The Honorable Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph.D. 1946--

The first Black woman to have earned a doctorate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she is currently the 18th president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Roy Allela 1994--

This Kenyan inventor created Sign-IO, a glove that interprets sign language into speech. A computer engineer, with a background in microprocessor engineering,  he develops software at Intel.

More about rube goldberg machines!

R.G.M.s are named after American cartoonist, sculptor, author, engineer, and inventor, Reuben Garrett Lucius Goldberg, known best as Rube Goldberg. Goldberg is best known for his popular cartoons depicting complicated gadgets performing simple tasks in indirect, convoluted ways. Fun Fact: Rube never actually made one of these in real life!
